Playmobil – The perfect toy sets for busy boys like mine!
I have very active boys (3 years old and 21 months old) and their concentration spans can reach all of ten minutes when it comes to playing with their toys. So, finding a toy that they are remotely interested in isn’t extremely difficult. But, finding something that they have a deep passion for? That’s a whole different ball game (pun intended!)
I ruled out cuddly toys from the very beginning, Lego is too boring for them, and they already have the whole set of Thomas and Friends, which they regularly fight over. But, I wanted to find something that encourages their imaginations to run wild, yet have the flexibility and versatility to inspire them to play together, so that they can laugh and talk about the fun times for years to come.
Then I stumbled into the world of Playmobil whilst doing my online research (daily internet browsing) and was astonished at the very impressive range of Playmobil toys available that are suitable for any child.
So what is Playmobil?
Playmobil is a timeless alternative to Lego and features pretty much anything you can imagine – from hospitals to zoos to pirates to summer houses – whatever your child’s personality, I am pretty sure you can find a Playmobil set that kids will adore for years and years. My boys would probably enjoy The Knights Castle (suitable from 3 – 10 years old) or the Emergency Service Set, and the very cute characters are also interchangeable with other Playmobil sets, so you can swap a fireman’s hat with a policeman’s hat, or you can stick a pirate character into a hospital.
Playmobil is great fun for the entire family as the sets come in tiny pieces, so you can build them together or painstakingly watch your kids try and assemble them whilst you take a breather. Be careful with those tiny pieces though as my boys like to hurl things across the room and bear in mind any age restrictions too. But, the toy sets are unisex, so I can also invite girls to play and they will happily co-exist with my boys without any fights erupting.
If you’re struggling to find a toy set that works for everyone in the family, I would encourage you to take a look at the Playmobil sets and check out the ranges available because you may just find something that will please everyone in the family. They are a tad on the dear side, but Playmobil sets are built to last, so I see it as an investment rather than an expensive toy and whatever keeps my boys happy, right? 🙂
What do you think of Playmobil sets? Do you have a favourite?
