What’s in May 2020’s Degusta Box?
Motherhood Diaries unboxing this month’s Degusta Box below:
Beronia Crianza Rioja – £2.99 for 18.75cl or £11.79 for a 75cl bottle
Made predominantly from Tempranillo, complemented by Garnacha and Mazuelo, this Crianza is intensely fruity, with blackberry and strawberry characters with hints vanilla and spice from ageing in mixed French and American oak barrels for 12 months before bottling.
Our Opinion – This was a lovely bottle of wine. I enjoyed drinking it as a full-bodied rich wine and using it in my slow cooker bolognese sauce which added the pièce de résistance to the spaghetti dish I made. Lovely flavour
Xite Energy Drinks – £1.49
A healthier spin on traditional energy with all the function and all the taste. Great for pre-workout or to help you through brain fog!
Social media: Xiteenergy #vegan #cleanenergy #goodenergy #zerocal
Our Opinion – A very interesting flavour. The boys weren’t fans and there was a bit of an aftertaste but I liked that there was little sugar and it’s quite refreshing with ice.
Hellmann’s Fat-Free Salad Dressing / House Salad Dressing – £1.65
Enjoy the delicious taste of these Hellmann’s salad dressings this summer by keeping a bottle on hand to transform your everyday salads from simple to spectacular. Whatever the occasion Hellmann’s salad dressings are sure to add flavour to your salads, without the addition of unwanted fat and preservatives.
Social media: hellmannsuk
Our Opinion– Albeit a little bland I really liked the taste of these dressings in salads because they were light enough to feel like I wasn’t consuming the full fat version. Salads are great but can be ruined by the fatty dressing, so if you can find a much healthier version of your favourite then win-win!
Barebells Hazelnut & Nougat Protein Bar – £2.50
At Barebells, we believe in happy eating and healthy living. We offer a whole range of protein-enriched bars and shakes that never compromises with flavour. Our products are a treat for everyone who wants a yummy snack. After the gym or during your afternoon tea: go ahead, feed your cravings!
Our Opinion – This was a resounding heck yes from all of us. Very delicious marshmallow-like centre with decadent dark chocolate covering. I wanted more!
Hartley’s Juicy Jelly Pouch – £2.79
A delicious Juicy Jelly pouch from the UK’s No.1 Jelly Brand Hartley’s. Available in 4 different flavours, and helping make wibbly wobbly jelly more accessible to those on the go. Made with real fruit juice, and under 100 calories.
Perfect for snacking or adding fun to the kids lunchbox!
Social media: hartleysfruit
Our Opinion – The boys love jelly and these fruity pouches were sweet but delicious with very strong strawberry flavour to whet the tastebuds. The pouches are great to add to lunchboxes but as the boys are home due to the pandemic at the moment, so they just enjoyed their pouches for dessert after dinner. You get four in a packet which is great because that meant there was one for all of us!
Mission Street Tacos original / chilli and lime – £1.20
Mission Street Tacos are soft, delicious street food-style tacos. Easy to fill, fold and enjoy. Available in Original and Mexican Chilli & Lime variants.
Our Opinion – I saw these and instantly wanted to make tacos, so I decided to make a vegan 5-ingredient version which came out really well! I love the bread but I’m useless at making tacos so they didn’t look very good and they were a bit small. But they made up for it in flavour. The Chilli & Lime version has quite a kick to it!
Bull’s-Eye Original BBQ Sauce – £2.49
BORN AND RAISED IN THE USA, BULL’S-EYE BBQ SAUCE HAS BEEN TAKING BARBECUES TO THE NEXT LEVEL SINCE 1985. NOTHING BUT THE REAL DEAL, BULL’S-EYE SAUCES ARE FULL-BODIED, SMOKEY, AND PACKED FULL OF FLAVOUR. CRAFTED BY AND FOR PEOPLE WITH A PASSION FOR MEAT AND BOLD FLAVOURS, THERE IS NOTHING BULL’S-EYE CANNOT HANDLE. FROM BRISKET TO WINGS, OR RIBS TO RIBEYE, BULL’S-EYE’S GOT YOU COVERED. FOR US, BARBECUE IS MORE THAN JUST DELICIOUS: IT’S IN OUR BLOOD. IT’S A SINGLE WORD WITH A THOUSAND MEANINGS. IT’S FIRE IN THE PITS AND FIRE IN YOUR BELLY.

Our Opinion – I love this BBQ sauce, I have put it on absolutely everything! I’ve added it to spaghetti, to my vegan burgers and pretty much any dish I’m using. I love the smoky flavour and the richness of the BBQ sauce, which is my favourite sauce of all the sauces. I’m definitely getting more of this!
YES! Sea Salt, Dark Choc & Almond / Banana & Pecan – £2.99*
YES! nut bars are a delicious and wholesome, healthy snack using the best ingredients nature has to offer. They are a source of protein, high in fibre, gluten-free and vegetarian. Also, they’re wrapped in recyclable paper packaging.
Social media: YESsnacks #tastybynature
Our Opinion– I love the YES! snacks, I find them to be so rich and nutty. And, they’re great for when you’re feeling peckish but don’t want to go all out in calories. The dark chocolate is so tasty and banana and pecan pack such a punch that you feel full afterwards. It’s a bit of an odd number to have just three in a pack so I’d love to see biggest packs so you can stock up more affordably. But, the quality is worth the £2.99 investment for three bars.
Skinny Tonic – £0.75
SKINNY TONIC makes it easier for consumers to choose healthier, and uses premium ingredients that don’t compromise on taste. Flavours Include :
Social Media: Skinnytonic #rethinkyourdrink
Our Opinion – The tonic was delicious, really enjoyed my tipples with the Skinny Tonic! I’m stocking up!
What did I like most about May’s BBQ and Snacking Degusta Box?
The BBQ sauce was delicious and I loved the Skinny Tonic. All of the products were good in this months’ Degusta Box. I am impressed!
