What’s in June 2020’s Degusta Box?
Motherhood Diaries unboxing this month’s Degusta Box below:
Corn & Bean Chips – Noisy Snacks
Noisy Snacks is a sensory adventure waiting to happen. Noise is our secret ingredient because every time you shake a pack, you activate the extra flavours at the bottom of the bag. (Most snack companies use 4% flavouring: we use 8%).
Double the taste. Double the flavour. Double the fun.
Social media: @NoisySnacks#MakeSomeNoise & #TeamNoisy
Our Opinion – These Noisy Bean chips had an interesting salty flavour. I didn’t really understand the marketing part of the bean chips being noisy but I shook the packet as advised to activate the extra flavours. It had a lovely smokey taste, but was a bit too salty for the boys to enjoy.
Chai Latte Marshmallow – Baru
Gourmet vanilla bean marshmallow bar with a chai latte topping and smothered in milk chocolate.
Made with real spices, bourbon vanilla bean and honey.
IG baru_choc #baruchocolates #swirlyinspiration #gourmetmarshmallows #baru_choc #chocolatemarshmallows
Our Opinion – This bar was deliciously chewy and very hard to share with the boys as it was a tad on the tough side. I love the dark chocolate around the bar, but I didn’t really get the full experience of the chai latte. Much loved by us all though!
Cocoa Orange / Salted Caramel Seed bars / 9Nine
NINE bar offers the most wonderful balance of natural health and indulgence. Bringing a nutritious bundle of sunflower,
pumpkin, sesame and hemp seeds together with amazing flavours for a snack that excites! High in fibre and source of magnesium! Proudly vegan, gluten and wheat free and 100% plant protein.
IG 9ninebrand #poweredbyseeds
Our Opinion – The boys and I really loved these bars, especially the salted caramel seeded bar, which had the perfect balance of sweet and salty. I love that these bars are purely vegan and full of flavour and they make a great alternative to snacking on less healthy bars.
Fruit Twists Blueberry & Raspberry / Gregory’s Tree
Gregory’s Tree is a tasty fruit twist snack bar free from dairy, gluten and wheat and made with organic ingredients.
Each Gregory’s Tree Blueberry and Raspberry Twist and new Strawberry Fruit Twist bars bursts with fruity flavour as each is made from pure organic fruit, which is gently heated and pulped to give it that extra tasty twist. They’re naturally great tasting being only 60 calories a pack and also, vegan-friendly.
Our Opinion – These fruit twist bars were ridiculously good! We again divided the bars amongst us three and each got to try a bit of both bars. I absolutely loved them and at 60 calories a bar, I’d happily munch on these bars to curb my sugar cravings. The boys were less impressed, but finished off their bites anyway. It might be something I can get them used to however.
Garlic and Basil Olives / Olly’s Olives
Olive The Dream! Olly’s Olives combine the finest Greek Halkidiki olives with mouthwatering marinades for the ultimate olive snack experience. Their pouches contain no messy oils, no stones and no artificials. At less than 75 calories per pouch, they are the perfect on-the-go snack or meal topper.
IG Ollysolives #olivethedream
Our Opinion – I love these deliciously salty Mediterranean tasting olives. I’ve grown up on olives what with being Mediterranean myself and love snacking on these when I’m hungry. So I really enjoyed grabbing these olives out of the fridge and tucking into them while I was cooking dinner. The great thing about these olives is that they’re in a resealable pack, so there’s less mess and all the oil stays inside! The boys hate olives, but that just means there’s more for me!
high protein & low sugar / Lizi’s Granola
Low Sugar includes 1.9g sugar per serving! Sold in 500g packs.
Single serving of High Protein gives you 27% of your daily protein needs. Sold in 350g packs
Leaving you feeling ‘a Whole Lot Better’
IG lizis_official #wholelotbetter
Our Opinion – These granola packets were surprisingly sweet and instead of eating as regular cereal in a bowl I ate them as dry snacks. They’re surprisingly filling, but very, very sweet! The low sugar packet doesn’t taste that different, and the packets are quite small, but I reckon they’d make great additions to dessert recipes.
Italian Dressing & Dip / Newman’s Own
Our Opinion – I’m not a fan of eating salads with manufactured dressing, I prefer to make my own. But, this was quite nice. It’s quite oily and blander than what I’d normally go for. Nevertheless it was pleasant.
Lime / Rhubarb / Le Joli
Le Joli is a sparkling water infused with natural flavours and nothing else. So no artificial ingredient, sugars or sweeteners. All the benefits of water with a great taste!
IG lejoliwater #infusedwater #natural #clean #makinglifecolourful #lejolil #sparklingwater #wellbeing
Our Opinion – Well these drinks are definitely not sweet! My boys were very surprised by the flavour, expecting Le Joli drinks to taste like coke or lemonade. I for one am not a fan of sparkling water, so infusing a horrible tablet taste with natural flavours does soften the bitter taste a bit. However, I’m still not a fan and would prefer to go for something sweeter if it has to be fizzy. Otherwise, plain water all the way!
Nachos with Chipotle dip & Sour Cream / Attack a Snak
Meet the newest member of our Nachos range, Chilli Heat Nachos snack kit with chipotle dip and sour cream sauce.
Each nacho kit contains chilli heatwave tortilla chips, a smoky chipotle dip and cooling sour cream & chive sauce.
Simply top ’em, Dip ’em and Snack ’em!
Our Opinion – These Attack a Snaks are great ideas for sharing with the family and the boys enjoyed the tortilla chips and sour cream & chive sauce, but they couldn’t handle the smoky chipotle chip (too spicy). I for one absolutely loved it and enjoyed mixing each strong flavour together to get that real nacho experience. I would buy these again.
Original / Rhubarb / Gin Fizz
A bubbly blend of wine, and botanically infused water with a dash of gin! Serve over ice with a slice of fruit.
Social media: @blossomhill #BlossomHill #TogetherLetsBlossom
Our opinion – Well, this drink was quite an experience. Both my husband and I tried this water and gin-infused wine and absolutely hated it, so much so that we couldn’t finish our glasses. It’s such a shame because I really love the concept, but it was too sickly sweet and we didn’t think the strong flavours mixed well. We’ll have one or the other, but not both together.
S&V, Cheese, Sweet & Smokey / Hippeas
HIPPEAS Organic Chickpea Puffs are made from the humble, but mighty legume baked into a light and crunchy puff. HIPPEAS are totally organic, gluten-free, vegan friendly and less the 90 calories per single-serve pack!
Our Opinion – I love Hippeas snacks, and find them to be great alternatives to crisps. The puffiness of the Chickpea Puffs make them feel very light and the fact that they’re made from chickpea means they’re full of protein and fibre. The boys loved these cheesy puffs too and wanted more, so I will definitely be buying these again.
Super Fruits / Maynards Bassetts
Candy is all about emotional connections, however, authenticity is a key trend – and new Superfruit Jellies perfectly tap into this. That’s why we’re introducing our new Superfruit Jellies which are not only tasty but contain real fruit juice and are a source of vitamins.
Social media: Maynardsbassetts #maynardsbassetts #superfruitjellies
Our opinion – These Superfruit Jellies should have worked as they contain real fruit juice and they are a source of vitamins. The boys didn’t mind so much as they’re used to their jelly vitamins, but I didn’t like these at all. I found them to be too sickly sweet and chewy, so I’m giving these a no I’m afraid. But, I’m glad Maynards Bassetts are coming out with healthier versions of their sweets. I’m sure others would really love these.
What did I like most about June Picnic Degusta Box?
I loved the Attack a Snack Chipotle Nacho experience and the 9Nine Bars were delicious!
A mixed bag this month. I wasn’t impressed with some of the really strong flavours, but I did like that there was quite a variety to choose from this month. Maybe less of the sickly alcohol and more of the snack packs to share with the family??
