FitFlop – DuéBoot™ Tall/Buckle Black Boots – Product Review
FitFlop generously offered me a pair of Size 5 DuéBoot™ Tall/Buckle Black Boots to review for Motherhood Diaries. This is what I found out:
What is FitFlop all about?
FitFlop was developed by a personal trainer 6 years ago, with input from a biomechanical engineer, to encourage wearers to use feet and leg muscles more efficiently while walking. Research conducted by FitFlop shows that having a thick midsole works the gluteals, hamstrings, thighs, and calf muscles more.
FitFlops come in a variety of colours and styles and make boots and clogs in addition to sandals.
A little bit more information about the boots can be found here, but below is a short summary description of the Size 5 DuéBoot™ Tall/Buckle Black Boots for ease of reference:
How much does the FitFlop DuéBoot™ Tall/Buckle Black Boot cost?

The DuéBoot™ Tall/Buckle Black Boot in Size 5 came in a giant red package, with huge wording, ‘Fitflop – Wear the shoes, rules the world’ on the front.
The boots were neatly packaged in lots of protective bubbles and paper wrapping and held together firmly in hard cardboard, to retain the shape of the boot.
When I took out the boots, I was astounded at how heavy they felt! They were also a bit of a chore to slip onto the foot, so I had to pull and squeeze for a few minutes before I was able to zip the boots up at the side.
Walking around was also challenging in a good way and I could feel they were really working my calf muscles, so I could understand how FitFlop’s technology of toning muscles was working here. The ankle part of the boot allowed almost no room for flexibility, so when I drove in these boots for the first time, I found it very difficult to use the pedals in the car, simply because the boot didn’t allow for the natural manoeuvrability of the ankle, to move the foot up and down.
Having said all of the above, I found these boots extremely comfortable to walk in. I had no trouble at all walking the normally long distances I have to trek every day with a double buggy and two boys, and these boots definitely withstood the pressure of multiple terrains. As I have a short frame, these boots actually looked a bit too stocky and masculine for me. But, when I offered them to a friend, who is a bit taller and slimmer (and a bit of a rock chick), the boots suited her perfectly.
What did I like most about the DuéBoot™ Tall/Buckle Black Boots?
The leather material is of very good quality and you can tell it will withstand the test of time and endurance. The boots are very comfortable to walk in as well.
What to watch out for:
“These boots are made for walking and that’s just what they’ll do. One of these days these boots are gonna walk all over you.”
Nancy Sinatra infamously sang the above to a man who let her down many times, but if these boots walked all over you, they would crush you. They are so heavy and stocky and will do some real damage if you came into contact with them.
Other points to note:
Don’t drive with these boots! You won’t be able to move your feet up and down properly.
3 ½ out of 5.
I give these boots a modest 3 ½ out of 5, simply because they are fabulous material, strong and endurable, but don’t try and drive with them or believe you’ll look extremely elegant, because these boots are made with strong stuff for the strong stuff.
Women bikers, these boots will suit you perfectly!
They are a bit dear for £170, but if you are looking for good strong quality and you like the style, then you’ll get what you paid for because there’s no doubt that these boots are built to last!
