Breathease Product Review:

Being a mother of two boys who like to wander around with their food, pick stuff up off the floor, smear gunk onto walls and generally create a royal mess, I’ve always used quite strong cleaning products to wipe away the mess. And, if I am perfectly honest with you, I don’t really tend to think about the after effects of using these products as I do my best to stay away from bleach. But, it’s becoming very well known that allergy and asthma sufferers, especially in young children, are directly effected by these so called powerful, anti-bacterial products that, admittedly, do so well at cleaning the mess. Breathease have developed a powerful cleaning product that is actually proven to be suitable for people who suffer from allergies and asthma, but do just as great a job in the cleaning department!

Leyla Preston of www.motherhooddiaries.com

I decided to review the Breathease Multi-Purpose cleaning bottle on all surfaces to find out whether it really is ‘multi-purpose’. Here we go!

The Kitchen:

I had just finished cooking spaghetti for lunch and the kitchen was a mess! So, I couldn’t think of a better time to try out the Breathease Multi-Purpose Cleaner on all the different surfaces in my kitchen.

I loaded the dishwasher and the sink and surrounding counters were left with lots of dirt and bits of food. I sprayed Breathease Multi-Purpose Cleaner in the sink, on the sink counter and the surrounding marble counters, and waited 3 minutes for the cleaning product to sink in. I immediately noticed how fresh and clean the product smelled – it wasn’t at all overbearing, I actually quite liked the smell – you can instantly feel how much easier it is to handle when you accidentally inhale the fumes from the cleaning product. I wiped away the dirt and it came off very easily, as well as left the kitchen sink gleaming! The Breathease Multi-Purpose Cleaner had passed the test in the kitchen sink area.

The Kitchen Stove:

The stove was full of bits of spaghetti from cooking our meal and needed a good wipe to get rid of the spillages. I sprayed the Breathease Multi-Purpose Cleaner generously over the stove, but left the product on for 5 minutes this time, to get rid of the stubborn stains. It took a few good wipes to remove the dirt, but the stove was sparkling afterwards – and it smelled nice!

The Kitchen Table:

The boys had finished their spaghetti and, actually, I was pleasantly surprised that they hadn’t left that much mess on the table! Frankly, they wolfed that spaghetti down in 2 minutes flat that I don’t think there would have been any chance for the food to escape from their mouths. Still, the kitchen table always needs a good clean before and after food. So, I tried out the Breathease Multi-Purpose Cleaner on the wooden table.

Our Unused Kitchen Cupboard:

We have a kitchen cupboard that stores all of our unused boxes and dishes. It hasn’t been cleaned in a long time as we never use any of the items in there. So, I thought that now was as good a time as any to test out the real strength of Breathease Multi-Purpose Cleaner. If it can get rid of the grease and grime in this cupboard, then it’s ticked all the boxes for me! I left the product to soak for at least 5 minutes to give it a good chance to remove the dirt. I only needed to wipe away the grime a few times and the cupboard was left even whiter than before. I’m so impressed with this cleaner!

Our Neglected Second Bathroom:

We have a second bathroom that has become a bit of a dumping ground after we moved around a lot of the furniture in the flat. We were out of water for a few days too (due to a burst water pipe (boo!)), so our laundry was building up in the bathroom. I decided to spring-clean the entire bathroom using Breathease’s Multi-Purpose Cleaner and check whether it could remove weeks of debris left from neglecting our poor bathroom.

As I removed all the laundry and boxes, I realised how battered our bathroom vinyl had become. I wasn’t optimistic about the cleaner removing the grime straight away, so I left the product on for 5 minutes before I wiped away the dirt. It had gotten rid of most of the grime, but the vinyl didn’t look as white as I hoped. I think a steam cleaner would be the only thing to save our vinyl – or replacing it with a new one!

Our sink was dusty, but not too dirty, so I knew the Breathease Multi-Purpose Cleaner would knock that dirt right out of the ball park! And, it did…

I went on a cleaning rampage after that and used the Breathease Multi-Purpose Cleaner in all of our rooms, save for the bamboo flooring, as I was too scared to try the product on wood (even though I used the cleaner on our wooden kitchen table and it seemed fine.) I was very impressed with the results and I immediately felt a lot better that everything looked and smelled really shiny and clean. My boys like to follow me into every room when I’m cleaning, and I didn’t notice any discomfort or coughing when spraying the product on all the surfaces. In fact, I really loved the smell it left in all the rooms – like a breath of fresh air. Plus, I still had half a bottle left to clean again tomorrow!

What did I like most about the Breathease Multi-Purpose Cleaning Product?

I loved how quickly the Breathease Multi-Purpose Cleaner got to work and how versatile the product is on all the surfaces – it truly is a Multi-Purpose Cleaner! The smell the product left was light and unobtrusive, so I had no problem cleaning whilst my boys were in the room. I normally open and air out the room and send them to play in the other rooms when I’m cleaning with my normal products, which have a very strong smell by comparison.

What to watch out for:

At £3.00 a bottle, one might think that the Breathease Multi-Purpose Cleaner (and the other cleaners in the Breathease Range) is an expensive product, but I would be happy to pay the £3.00 if that meant I could happily clean all the rooms with one bottle and still have some left over, whilst maintaining and preserving mine and my boys’ lungs in the process.

Other points to note:

It does state on the back of the bottle to, “Avoid prolonged contact with wood, aluminium and painted, varnished or soft porous surfaces…. Do not use on worn, damaged or cracked surfaces… do not recommend for use on copper or brass.” Well, I should have read the back of the bottle properly as I used the product on all the surfaces, bar our bamboo flooring, and I didn’t see any damage as a result. But, I can imagine that, over time, prolonged use of the Breathease Multi-Purpose Cleaner on the aforementioned surfaces may cause damage in the long-term. So, I’ll bear that in mind next time…

5 out of 5

The Breathease Multi-Purpose Cleaner won hands down against all of my normal cleaning products and I shall be stocking up on this product in the future. I can’t wait to try out the other Breathease products available!
