After 2 sweeps, walking up and down a gazillion flights of stairs, travelling the whole of London and drinking far too many raspberry leaf teas and pineapples, not to mention even some DIY acupressure, I finally give birth to my beautiful baby who decided to arrive a week late!!

41 weeks pregnant - the science part

Boy, was it a long and arduous journey.

We were snowed in so instead of going to the birth centre because it was shut we had to head to our nearest hospital, which should have been a 15/20 minute drive away, but it took 45 minutes to an hour because of the snow. I was in so much pain through back pain and contractions that I had to kneel on the back seat with my body over the back of the seats, concentrating on breathing and closing my eyes to centre myself. It was hard.

Please check out Aron’s birth story for the gruesome details if you can stomach it. I do have to warn you that it is not pleasant. A little jealous though as my friend was 9cm dilated when she arrived at hospital and had her baby in a few hours! Everyone is different…
